HIBANA operates hibana.com.au and the related online store (the “Services”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect personal information when you use the Services, purchase from us or otherwise communicate with us. We handle personal information in accordance with applicable Australian privacy laws, including the Privacy Act 1988 and Australian Privacy Principles where they apply.
Information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- identity and contact details, including name, email, telephone number, billing and delivery addresses;
- order, payment status, transaction, return, warranty and customer-support records;
- account details and preferences;
- vehicle make, model, year, variant, measurements and fitment information you provide;
- communications, reviews, survey responses and competition entries;
- device, browser, IP address, cookie identifiers and information about how you use the Services; and
- marketing preferences and consent records.
Payment card details are processed by Shopify and the selected payment provider. HIBANA does not receive your complete payment card number.
How we collect information
We collect information directly from you, automatically through the Services and cookies, and from service providers or partners that support checkout, payments, delivery, fraud prevention, analytics, advertising and customer service.
Why we use information
- to provide products and Services, process payments, fulfil and track orders, and manage returns, fitment and warranty claims;
- to communicate with you about orders, support requests and service updates;
- to maintain accounts, remember preferences and improve products, content and website performance;
- to prevent fraud, protect the Services and comply with legal obligations;
- to measure advertising and, where permitted, personalise marketing; and
- to send marketing communications where we have the consent or other legal basis required by law.
Marketing emails identify HIBANA and include an unsubscribe option. We will action valid unsubscribe requests in accordance with the Spam Act 2003. Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop transactional messages about your orders or account.
Cookies and similar technologies
We and our providers use necessary cookies to operate checkout and accounts, and may use analytics, preference and advertising cookies. Where required, you can manage non-essential cookies through the privacy controls displayed on the Services. Browser controls can also block or delete cookies, although some features may no longer work correctly.
When we disclose information
We may disclose relevant information to Shopify; payment processors; delivery and fulfilment providers; IT, cloud, security and customer-support providers; analytics and advertising partners; professional advisers; related entities; and authorities where required or permitted by law. We may also disclose information in a business sale, merger or restructuring. We do not authorise service providers to use information for unrelated purposes.
Shopify
Our store is hosted by Shopify, which processes information to provide and improve the Services. Information may be processed in countries where Shopify and its providers operate. See the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy and Shopify Privacy Portal.
Overseas processing
Some providers may store or process information outside Australia. Countries can change as provider infrastructure changes. Where applicable, we take reasonable steps required by Australian privacy law before disclosing personal information overseas. Privacy protections in another country may differ from those in Australia.
Retention and security
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes above, including tax, accounting, fraud prevention, warranty, dispute and legal requirements. We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards, but no transmission or storage system is completely secure.
Your choices and requests
You may ask to access or correct personal information we hold, withdraw marketing consent, or request deletion where applicable. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information where required by law or reasonably needed to complete transactions, prevent fraud or resolve disputes.
Children
The Services are not directed to children. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate consent, contact us.
Complaints
Email info@hibana.com.au with details of your privacy concern. We will acknowledge and investigate the complaint and respond within a reasonable time. If the Privacy Act applies and you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Changes
We may update this policy when our practices, providers or legal obligations change. We will publish the revised version and update the date above.

Cookie and tracking categories
Our Cookie Policy provides more detail. The storefront privacy centre separates technologies into the following categories:

Consent and your choices
Optional preferences, analytics and marketing technologies remain off until you provide the relevant consent where our consent interface applies. You can accept all, reject optional technologies or make a category-by-category choice. After you save a choice, the consent interface closes. To change that choice later, clear HIBANA site data in your browser and reload the storefront, or contact us for assistance. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
Blocking or deleting browser storage can reset your saved choice and can prevent some storefront functions from working. Strictly necessary technologies remain active because the store cannot securely provide the requested service without them.
Analytics and advertising providers
Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads may process device, browser, interaction, approximate location and advertising-attribution information when the applicable category is allowed. See Google's Privacy Policy. Meta may process similar event and attribution data when marketing consent is allowed and Meta Pixel is active. See Meta's Privacy Policy.
Google Tag Manager is used to manage approved analytics and advertising tags. Our consent implementation sends Google Consent Mode signals and delays the HIBANA Google Tag Manager container until analytics or marketing consent is granted. Tags configured through Google Tag Manager must also respect the relevant category signal.
Sale, sharing and targeted advertising
HIBANA does not sell personal information for money. Some disclosures to advertising or platform providers may be treated as a “sale”, “sharing” or targeted advertising under certain laws. Where applicable, you may opt out using Shopify's data-sharing opt-out controls or a recognised Global Privacy Control signal. Shopify also provides a Privacy Portal for requests concerning information processed by Shopify.
Retention
Consent records and cookie duration vary by purpose and provider. Session technologies may expire when you close your browser; persistent technologies remain for a defined period or until you delete them. We configure retention to be proportionate to the stated purpose and periodically review active tags and providers.
